This project involved a bold two-story addition to a traditional style residence.
The street elevation of the addition was traditional in design to match the original house and its neighbors while the rear, shown here, was a crisp,3 modernist cube to match both the Owner’s and our interest in simple and elegant contemporary forms.
Old Saybrook, Conn
Located directly on the water at North Cove, this new residence was subject to very strict zoning restrictions. Working within these constraints, we created a two-bedroom residence with a varied and architectural exterior that visually overcame these restrictions.
Avon, Conn
Located on very steep terrain overlooking the Farmington River, this house was designed for an elderly person. The first floor was designed as a self-contained living unit including a master bedroom suite incorporating handicap accessibility. The second floor included a simple bedroom and bath for a caretaker. There are extensive exterior decks with multiple exposures to fully enjoying the natural surroundings.
